Tell Me This Is Just A Dream

I’ve really been feeling the 5 Seconds of Summer feels these days. If you were into punk pop in jr high this band will bring you a fresh wave of nostalgia in the best way possible.

In The Moment We’re Lost and Found

Today’s soundtrack Sunday is a song by none other than the wonderful Birdy. Lately music from the UK has just been giving me the feels (who am I kidding anything from the UK always gives me the feels!). If you haven’t heard of Birdy I highly suggest checking out her stuff. Wings is the single off of her upcoming album. I hope you enjoy this talented artist as much as I do. And good luck to all those starting school this fall! xo

It’s The Fleeting Urge to Run, Like a Bird Flying by on a Summer Breeze

Today’s Soundtrack Sunday is a song from my favorite band, Parachute. They released a new album a couple of weeks ago called Overnight. I have been waiting for this album for ages. The problem with this is that after waiting so long, you start to expect more and hold things to higher standards. I am by no means disappointed by the new album, it’s just very different from their old stuff so it took a while to appreciate the new turn Parachute has taken. And I’ve got to say, it is an impressive album. Parachute never fails to produce good music. This song is my favorite on the album so give a listen and maybe you’ll fall in love with them too. Happy Sunday all! xo

~Down By The River Where We Used To Meet~

~Down By The River Where We Used To Meet~

I’m very excited for this Soundtrack Sunday because this song was suggested by one of my very good friends Kal, who also happens to be a musical wizard. She’s been posting daily songs all summer so if you want to check her out here’s the link to her blog: Believe me, she has really good taste in music!

Anyways, the song I’m posting today is called The River and it was produced by one of Kal’s friends from University which I think is just the coolest thing. Do I know all of the technical work that goes in to producing a song? Uh that would be a NO! However I can appreciate good music when I hear it, and this song is nothing short of perfection. The first time Kal showed me this song I obviously fell in love. The track is so natural, and by that I mean it literally sounds like nature! And it has that folk/pop feel that I am so digging this summer. So I really hope you enjoy The River and if you want to hear more from Liv Cazzola you should visit her facebook page and give her a little love. Have a beautiful Sunday my lovelies. xo

Down Dust and Pine Cone Tracks

As long as summer is, I find it tends to slip away in the blink of an eye. That’s why every August Long, my friends and I like to take a little road trip. I mean if you ever want to get to know someone really well, just pack yourselves in a car with all the camping stuff you can squeeze in and just drive. It’s a beautiful tradition and I will take these memories with me forever. This year only two of us were able to embark on the journey. We drove to the mountains where a heritage festival was going on. Despite the somewhat rainy weather the trip was amazing! We went on guided nature tours, a mine tour, and participated in a lot of community events. It was so refreshing to go somewhere we’d never been before and experience so much nature with people we didn’t know. Many of the people who came out to the heritage events were either families with small children or locals who were at least 30 years older than us, which was actually pretty awesome. We met a bunch of really interesting people who were willing to share their stories and knowledge with us. It was such an amazing way to spend the weekend!
I chose to post Old pine for this Soundtrack Sunday because Ben Howard manages to capture everything I’m feeling in his lyrics and I think this song is the perfect match for this weekend roadie.

Soundtrack Sundays

So I’ve decided to start a little consistency up with this blog! I love blogging, but up until this point my posts have been really sporadic. This is why I’ve came up with a new weekly post: Soundtrack Sunday. If you know me at all you’ll know that I have a wild love affair with music and I want to share this love with you. So that being said, every Sunday I’ll be posting a new song. I of course will continue to post my musings on life as I have been previous to this. Anyways, I look forward to sharing my music with you and I of course would love if you shared your music with me as well. Have a lovely week all!

I’m Searching For a Paradise, For the Time of My Life

I'm Searching For a Paradise, For the Time of My Life

There are few things in life that I truly describe as perfect, but last night I went to see City and Colour live and it was absolutely every form of perfect.

My friends and I drove a total of six hours to go to this concert (in the middle of the week!) and it was worth every minute and every dime. The venue was absolutely beautiful. We were outdoors in a garden surrounded by trees and people. We staked out prime seating on a hillside, and though we were quite far away from the stage it did not take away from Dallas Green’s flawless voice. The milling of people and occasional bird flying by only added to the atmosphere. I cannot describe how amazing it was to be with my best friends listening to this marvelous man sing. As I said, flawless.

Today, I’ve been reliving every moment of the concert in my head, and the thing is, the more I think about it the better it becomes in my mind. I sometimes find that concerts these days are way to over-the-top shows. Don’t get me wrong I love a good dramatic performance, complete with dancers, acrobatics, and real live fire, but sometimes it’s nice to strip all of that away and return to simplicity. It was humbling to be a part of something so pure and so real again.

Just a man and his guitar can really put things into perspective.

Will You Be My Memory?

right by the ocean

So if you haven’t noticed, music is kind of a big deal for me. There are many reasons why music is so important to me, and one of them is that they are the perfect markers of time. A song can bring back really vivid memories for me. It is the most beautiful thing when a song brings you down memory lane. I find a compilation of songs has an even greater power of transporting me to the past. This is why I am always making mixed tapes and playlists. I’ve decided to make a playlist of some of my favorite songs to be the soundtrack to my summer. Feel free to give a listen to the songs that I’ll be blasting all summer, and maybe one day they’ll bring you back to the summer of twenty thirteen as well!
